About Me

It’s been said about writing to start with something true.
It’s true that my first published work was a Haunted House poem at 10 years old. It’s true that I was a somewhat brutal and unsympathetic editor throughout school, that I am happiest cocooned in a blanket wrapped ET-style around me, debating my kids about whether we need a third cat or if Spiderman 2 is a pristine cinematic achievement. It’s true that motherhood changed me, challenging me with a central question in the form of my small, finger-chewing child growing up in a broken world:
Why?
I write short fiction. Funny, scary, sweet or sad, I write to decode that little word and its impact on life when things get really, really hard. And though you’re supposed to start with the true thing, I find I generally end with it, too.
When I'm not writing, I raise and homeschool three amazing kids and an assortment of animals on a farm(ish) in Michigan, alongside my husband. Thanks for stopping in, and don't give up. That third cat might one day barrel-roll its way into your life.
